  • Day 1 - Bucharest (26 April)

    Arrivals 

    Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport


    We pick you up from airport any time day or night and transfer you to our start hotel.

  • Day 2 - Bucharest (27 April)

    We will begin the day with a walking tour of the Old City, delving into Romania’s rich history and immersing ourselves in the local atmosphere. 


    Afterwards we will enjoy lunch and explore a wonderful market at The Museum of the Romanian Peasant. 


    Let’s celebrate our journey and new travel friendships this evening at a well-loved local restaurant.

  • Day 3 - Targu Jiu (28 April)

    Heading out of Bucharest today holds a lot of excitement We will visit Christina, she is the proud owner of the last silk producing and a weaving workshop in Romania. 


    Heading across country we will visit a rug weaver in a beautiful country village 


    Targu Jui is our home tonight, a picturesque little town on the southern edge of the Carpathian Mountains. A feature of this town is “This Endless Column” by Constantin Brancusi. It symbolizes the concept of infinity and the infinite sacrifice of the Romanian soldiers. It is one of the 3 monuments dedicated by the great Romanian sculptor to Romanian people and their sacrifices.

  • Day 4 - Sibiu (29 April)

    Winding through the beautiful Carpathian Mountains we have a fairy tale treat for you today. The medieval Corvin Castle.


    Onto our comfortable hotel in Sibiu for the evening. 


    Sibiu is known for its Eyes- let’s see how long it takes you to spot them. 


    Dinner tonight is in a local restaurant- the food is delicious, rustic local fare.

  • Day 5 - Sibiu (30 April)

    ASTRA museum is a dynamic open-air museum with so much to see and experience, and set in a beautiful forest. We’ll look around as we head to our doll making workshop. In the long months of winter many textile crafts thrived, making dolls for the little ones was a much-loved treat

  • Day 6 - Cluj Napoca (1 May)

    It feels like we are entering outspace today but actually we are heading deep underground into Turda Salt Mine. Wide corridors and vast spaces, it is a very exciting place to visit. 


    Then onto Cluj Napoca and it’s wonderful Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania this afternoon. 


    We stay right in town, this evening is free to explore at your leisure.

  • Day 7 - Breb (2 May)

    Heading further out into the countryside we visit the magical wooden church at Rogoz. Part of the World Heritage Listed Wooden Churches of Maramures this quaint little church set in a flower filled cemetery is a delight. 


    Fresh trout for lunch caught this morning, if you would like. Delicious country food. 


    Onto Breb and our very own home. We stay with Veronica and feel like part of the family. Be prepared for the generosity of family cooking, situated in the village it is delightful to wander around, peak over fences and into farm yards.

  • Day 8 - Breb (3 May)

    Early this morning we are heading across country to a local market day. 


    Interesting to see what is for sale, rummage through the second-hand textile stalls and try the local cheeses and snacks 


    This is evening will be very special, we’ll wonder up into the hills and visit the summer camp of local shepherds in time to see the milking of the Sheep. Only men can participate in this job, sorry if you wanted to help. Then dinner under the plum tree, local cheese, homemade bread and a shepherd’s stew. Along with palinka of course.

  • Day 9 - Sapanta (4 May)

    It is Sunday and everyone heads to church. We will visit Barsana Monastery and experience the service- it takes place in the gardens and sounds like angles singing. Very special. 


    Today, we are on a quest to find whirlpools. The swift, narrow rivers have inspired remarkable local ingenuity for washing carpets and felting. You have to see it to believe it. 


    The Merry Cemetery this afternoon- you can spend ages here reading and perhaps having a giggle at what is written on the crosses.

  • Day 10 - Sighisoara (5 May)

    Heading south again we will visit Victor the Coppersmith, experience Roma hospitality and admire his craftsmanship. 


    Medieval Sighisoara this afternoon- so interesting to wander around and explore. 


    Dinner together tonight- we can brag about all the cobbled hills we climbed and what we discover.

  • Day 11 - Viscri (6 May)

    Bucolic bliss awaits us today in the charming village of Viscri. This inspiring town works tirelessly to preserve its farming heritage and vibrant rural life. 


    We’ll enjoy lunch at the renowned Viscri 32, where the farm-to-table menu promises a delicious experience. 


    Our visit will include the World Heritage-listed Fortified Saxon Church of Viscri, offering a delightful step back into the medieval past. 


    We’ll also visit The King’s House, owned by King Charles it is his secret getaway- he has contributed enormously to the vision of this village. 


    Onto Brasov in the afternoon, the central plaza of the Old City is a perfect place to sit in the sun with a cool drink and watch the people go by.

  • Day 12 (7 May)

    Today’s sightseeing takes us to the charming Bran Castle, once the beloved summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania. Despite popular belief, there’s no Dracula here—just the eerie tales invented by Bram Stoker. 


    A delicious home cooked lunch and workshop in Romanian’s traditional craft of egg painting. 


    We stay in a boutique hotel within the forest of Peles Castle this evening.

  • Day 13 (8 May)

    Let’s be the first to visit Peles Castle in the morning and imagine what it might have felt like to be visiting royalty. 


    Onto to Bucharest and a free afternoon for some last minute souvenirs or visits to yet more stunning Orthodox Churches- their murals are quite addictive. 


    We’ll share dinner tonight and can reminisce on our wonderful travels
