Looking through my pictures, and taking note of what catches my eye, I realise indigo is quite an interest [ my son said obsession, but really isn’t that interest and enthusiasm rolled together?]
I use it in my designs @the_stitching_project and chase it when travelling.
It is so interesting to smell it and know it is the same but there are so many amazing ways it is used.
Vietnam- Japanese indigo and hemp
India- plain dye, mud resist in deep vats to dye cloth
Ghana- similar vats but they dye thread and weave narrow strips.
Most indigo days take us off the beaten track on little adventures to get up close and personal with the amazing ancient dye stuff.
Let there be more natural indigo in the world!
