A Textile Tour with Tutor Gillian Travis.

Textile Adventures – India Edition.

CAS is teaming up with intrepid traveller and well-known textiles teacher Gillian Travis. Gillian is well known for her back-packing and has a great eye for an interesting place and turning her photos into art quilts back home.

We are following Gillian’s love of travel and using it to inspire creative work, but ditching back-packing for an air-conditioned bus and comfortable hotels to make a journey to gather inspiration and skills.

This tour is based around is Gillian’s Course – how to transfer your travel photos to cloth [NO drawing skills necessary]

AND

Visiting The Stitching Project – a workshop we can call home. Design an wooden printing block, learn how to use it to print cloth, have that cloth made into a top for you. Gillian will also explain how to print it back home using a gelli plate.

Exotic locations to visit along the way.

Pre-trip there will be an email briefing and preparations tutorial, ideas on designing your own wooden block, along the road we will have tutorials, take artisan workshops and gather lots of inspiration.
