Gujarat Textile Tour – Forgotten kingdoms, tribal embroidery and more…

We start in Ahmedabad, whose Old City is on the World Heritage List, we stay in an old family home, so gorgeous it will be hard to leave.

The lure of textiles will lead us on, Gujarat State is rich with wonderful, colourful creative tribal embroidery- so many different types. There is woven work of fine silks, khadi cotton, and wool shawls to snuggle up in.

Natural dye and blocks print reach their pinnacle in Ajrakh work, creative artisans of blockprint and batik also create beautiful cloths.

There is also much to feast your eyes on- Step wells; a feature of Gujarat, magical places to escape the heat of the hot summers [we will be there in a cooler season], fabulous old palaces , desert and huge handmade wooden boats.
