Jaipur Sketching- Jaunts

“Travel Sketching-Jaipur ” has unstructured times factored in to give guests time to develop their artworks.

There are so many interesting places and people to visit, though, so….

There are optional afternoon jaunts- we already have the bus at our disposal and a driver who is happy to take us out on a jaunt, so why not?

Perhaps we would like to visit an art shop/ junk shop, swap observations with a painter of traditional miniature paintings.

Visit a pottery renowned for their stunning botanical illustrations….

Then there are beautiful places we pass…. Days will start in the garden, breakfast to the soothing sounds of sitar.

I'm not a tour person but the Rajasthan tour I did with Fiona in 2013 was just magic. The pace was just right allowing time to stitch things we had seen but I was also doing natural dye samples along the way on a 10m scroll of silk. Days in the Fort drawing and talking to the local people were very precious. The colours and fabrics of Rajasthan shine in a light similar to Australia, so I felt captivated. Indigo, natural dyes, chemical dyes, carpet weaving, beading, kantha stitch are now parts of my textile lexicon. Thank you, Fiona.
