Take time to Enjoy the moment- Textile & Travel Sketch tours. How is your day going?

Mine is a bit busy…. but taking a moment to appreciate life, I realised I have just made ….

1. a request for an update on Casablanca and Marrakesh – working on plans with Melissa Lakey

2. I have made a date to talk about the menu with Chef Dee in Tamale, Ghana. How cool is that? The food movement in Ghana is exciting and Chef Dee is so innovative. oh wow.

3. collected some notes on stitching and GENTLE walking ideas with @Gillian Travis. Yes we are exploring the idea of “Walk & Stitch” adventures- we all know Gillian’s enthusiasm, so I keep mentioning gentle walks – haha 🤣teasing her.

4. started working on an idea from Leonie Norton We have travelled together on travel sketching trips since 2008 so when she suggested a new idea she feels inspired by we had to say yes. Japan is on our sketch horizon.

It is only 6.30am.

What a carrot those ideas are to get the office work done so we can hit the road.

Hey notice the writing on the balloon? “Let’s Go Everywhere” those balloons in Cappadocia were magical, made my my eyes sparkle and my heart warm…. and now I notice what was written How cool is that?

I've been on tour with Creative Arts Safaris to India and Vietnam. Both trips were wonderful, exciting experiences. I was introduced to amazing places, people and food. I'm not a tour person but the Rajasthan tour I did with Fiona in 2013 was just magic. The pace was just right allowing time to stitch things we had seen but I was also doing natural dye samples along the way on a 10m scroll of silk. Days in the Fort drawing and talking to the local people were very precious. The colours and fabrics of Rajasthan shine in a light similar to Australia, so I felt captivated. Indigo, natural dyes, chemical dyes, carpet weaving, beading, kantha stitch are now parts of my textile lexicon. Thank you, Fiona.
