Ruou Can….. translates to stem liquor or straw liquor
It is a traditional fermented glutinous rice and herb concoction found for sale heading out towards Mai Chou in North Vietnam.
Fun to try, I’ve been sampling with groups since 2008, a bit of a giggle is always shared when you sink the straws in and take a slurp.
Apparently, when brought to a party or celebration in the village, dancing and music playing follow.
Good to try out local treats along the way, sketching groups might take a moment to draw them, textile groups can dive in quicker.
